Devils Food Cake:
2 Cups Sugar
3 Heaping TBSP Shortening
3 Eggs
1 Cup Sour Milk or Butter Milk ^^^
1 TBSP Vinegar
2 1/2 Cups Flour
6 TBSP Cocoa
2 Teaspoons Soda
1 Teaspoon Vanilla
1/4 Teaspoon Salt
1 Cup Boiling Water
Butter and flour cake pan(s). Preheat Oven 350 degrees. Cream together Sugar and Shortening, add Eggs and mix. Add Sour Milk or Butter Milk, Vinegar, Cocoa, Soda, Vanilla and Salt mixing well. Add Boiling Water and then Flour. Batter will be very runny. Pour batter into
cake pan(s) bake about an hour, until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
^^Sour Milk: 1 TBSP Vinegar to every 1 Cup Milk
Butter Cream Frosting:
1/2 cup Butter or Margarine
1/2 cup Shortening
1 Teaspoon Vanilla
3 TBSP Milk
1 pound Confectioners Sugar
Cream Butter or Margarine and Shortening together, add Vanilla and Milk, slowly add Confectioners Sugar until desired consistency.
Fondant:
2 pkg Jet Puffed Marshmallows
1 pkg Confectioners Sugar
Shortening
Cornstarch
Place Marshmallows in microwave safe bowl and add barely 1 TBSP water, heat 1 minute stirring occasionally, you may need to heat longer, you need all the Marshmallows melted. Add Confectioners Sugar slowly while stirring until it's too hard to stir but still sticky. Rub Shortening onto work surface and pour out Marshmallow mix onto it, knead in Confectioners Sugar until it's soft, and no longer sticky but don't add to much Sugar or it will be too hard! Then divide if needed and add colors :), regular food coloring does not do well, you need to use the real frosting gel coloring. When fondant is ready to be rolled set aside and wipe off work surface, then sprinkle it with Cornstarch, place fondant on the cornstarch and roll with a rolling pin.
